Iranian artists to compete in Russia

Fatemeh Bahrinejad, Faramarz Arabnia, Alireza Bakhshi, Hengameh Bokai, Homa Delvarai, Saleh Elahi, Morteza Farahnak, Mehdi Fatehi, Maryam Fonouni, Mohsen Hazrati and Sara Khalafi are among the 18 Iranian artists who will take part in the Poster category of the event.

The biennial will be held in four categories of Poster, Decalogue, Russian Avant-garde and Territorial/Place/Destination Branding.

The Poster section focuses on all themes, types and genres of posters created between 2010 and 2012, while Decalogue will present illustrations, posters and any other work of graphic design on the Ten Commandments.

The works submitted for the Russian Avant-garde include books, posters and any other works of graphic design devoted to Russian avant-garde.

The Territorial / Place / Destination Branding category is dedicated to logos and identity of the locations.

Iranian artist Majid Abbasi will serve on the jury of the biennial along with Ken Cato (Australia), Alain Le Quernec (France), Harmen Liemburg (the Netherlands), Apex Lin (Taiwan), Paula Troxler (Switzerland) and Boris Trofimov (Russia).

Born in 1965, Majid Abbasi graduated from The University of Tehran in visual communication and was a member of the board and treasurer of The Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) from 2003 to 2006.

Abbasi has also been a member of Alliance Graphique International (AGI) since 2009 and his works have been published in numerous international magazines and books.

Cosponsored by the International Council of Graphic Design Associations and the International Biennales Coordinating Committee, the event will present posters, logos and other creations from different countries such as Afghanistan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy and Japan.

Workshops and lectures by members of the international jury will also be part of the biennial.

The 10th edition of the Golden Bee Moscow Global Biennale of Graphic Design will be held from October 9 to 14, 2012 in Moscow’s Central House of Artists.
