Iran wrestlers win 2 golds at Takhti Cup

Meysam Nasiri and Abbas Tahan won gold medals in the 66-kilogram and 96-kilogram categories respectively in the 12,000-seater hall of the Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran on Saturday.

Russian wrestler Nariman Israpilov claimed the gold in the 55-kilogram category.

Athletes from Iran, Turkey, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and the Russian Republic of Dagestan are competing in the tourney.

The sports event started on March 10 and will continue until March 11.

Takhti, the most famous wrestler in Iranian history, died on January 7, 1968. He won a gold medal in the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games and won silver medals in the 1952 Helsinki and 1960 Rome Olympic Games.
