“What will happen is a disaster,” said Wadah Khanfar in a Saturday interview, adding, “An attack against Iran at this moment in time is first of all going to create new priorities, new alliances, new fears in the region and new complexities. No one can expect what the result will be.”
“It will change a lot of what we see as a success story in the Arab world and in the Middle East,” he pointed out.
Khanfar warned that any war against Iran will increase the likelihood of external meddling in the Arab world developments and argued that since the fresh regional movements are transformations “from within … no one accepts foreign intervention as a tool of change.”
The United States, Israel accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program and have used this pretext to threaten Tehran with the ‘option’ of a military strike.
Rejecting such allegations, Iranian officials have promised a crushing response to any military strike against the country, warning that any such measure could result in a war that would spread beyond the Middle East.
