‘Iran wants strengthened world peace’

Speaking in a meeting with Mirjana Mladineo, foreign policy advisor to Croatian President Ivo Josipovic in Zagreb, Ramin Mehmanparast pointed to Western sanctions against Iran, saying Tehran does not welcome sanctions, yet they have spurred the country’s progress in many fields.

The spokesman, who is also head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Center for Public Diplomacy and Media, further stated that the ongoing economic crisis in Europe proves the necessity of modifying existing systems.

He added that in view of existing problems, new solutions must be found for global crises.

The Croatian official, for her part, explained her country’s strategy for accession to the European Union, saying that Croatia wants good relations with all countries, including Iran with its rich historical background with which Zagreb has had two decades of good ties.

Mladineo added that by focusing on the commonalities, Tehran and Zagreb can provide more grounds for dialogue and cooperation.
