Rahimi, who is currently on an official visit to two East African countries of Kenya and Tanzania, made the remark while speaking to reporters upon his arrival in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi on Monday.
“Good, amicable and historical ties between Iran and Kenya have been improved in terms of quality and quantity in recent years. We are determined to [further] expand mutual relations in all fields,” Rahimi said.
He added that Iran is currently undertaking development plans in Kenya, saying during his talks with Kenyan officials, views on ways to accelerate the implementation of the projects would be exchanged.
The first vice president said he would also discuss regional and international developments with senior Kenyan officials.
Rahimi is scheduled to meet with the Kenyan President, Emilio Mwai Kibaki, Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, and the country’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga during his stay in Nairobi.
