‘Iran, Turkey complement each other’

“The friendly relations between Iran and Turkey have incited the envy of some people and countries; and some are trying to create sedition in the relations between the two countries,” Bahman Hosseinpour said on Wednesday, IRNA reported.

Referring to the recent visit by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iran, Hosseinpour said, “I dare say that this was Erdogan’s most successful visit to Iran.”

“The bilateral ties between the two countries are currently at their highest level and these relations … are on the rise,” he added.

In a meeting with Turkish Minister of Development and head of the Iran-Turkey joint economic taskforce Cevdet Yilmaz earlier this month, Hosseinpour called for the bilateral trade balance between Tehran and Ankara to increase to USD 20 billion in 2012.

The value of the Iran-Turkey trade exceeded USD 16 billion in 2011. The two countries plan to increase the level of their bilateral trade volume to USD 30 billion by 2015.
