SHANA– Iran has planned to lay 9,000 kilometers of high pressure gas transmission pipelines by 2025, an Iranian gas official said.
Speaking to reporters Sunday evening, Saeid Tavakoli, managing director of Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC), said once the pipelines are laid, Iran’s high pressure gas transmission pipelines will reach 45,000 kilometers from currently 36,000 kilometers.
He said the company enjoys the Middle East’s largest and the world’s 4th largest gas transmission network following Russia, the US and Canada.
Tavakoli added that the company is currently transferring 746 million cubic meters of gas on a daily basis up by 52 mcm (7.5%) from last year.
He said the company has plans to reach transmission capacity of 400 billion cubic meters per day by 2025, adding the lengths of its high pressure gas pipelines will increase by 26% reaching 45,000 km by then.
A state company, IGTC is obliged to deliver 240 bcm of gas in the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.
