‘Iran stresses cultural ties with Lebanon’

The cultural event kicked off in Beirut on Monday in the presence of Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, Alireza Zaker Isfahani, the governor of Isfahan and Lebanese Minister of Culture Gaby Layoun. A number of officials and artists from the two countries also attended the event.

In his address during the opening ceremony, Hosseini said culture was the only means that could defeat the negative aspects of relationships among nations.

Layoun, for his part, said Lebanon was proud to host the culture week of one of the world’s richest cultures and noted that the two countries have enjoyed cultural cooperation throughout the history, saying, “It is very important for us to have cultural ties with a nation that supported the resistance of Lebanon against Israel.”

Hosseini afterwards opened the art exhibition aimed at introducing the Iranian arts and traditions to Lebanese visitors.

The Iranian minister also met with Lebanese Information Dissemination Minister Walid al-Daouq later on Monday, congratulating the anniversary of the great victory of resistance in the 33 day war against Israel.

He said the victory consolidated the unity in Lebanon.
