In a meeting with Assistant Secretary of Russian Security Council Yevgeny Lukyanov in Tehran on Tuesday, Baqeri stated that the strategic partnership between Tehran and Moscow provides for a win-win situation that would benefit all regional nations.
He added that Tehran and Moscow have joint opportunities and are faced with common threats in the international scene.
Lukyanov, for his part, said Russia attaches special significance to its strategic cooperation with Iran in various fields.
He also denounced the dual approach of Western powers in offering support to terrorist gangs in Syria.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March last year. Many people, including security forces, have been killed in the turmoil. While the West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of the killings, Damascus blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
