‘Iran-P5+1 bid for talks, step forward’

“That the negotiations are to be continued in Moscow simply means talks have been positive,” Chairman of the 8th Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday.

“If the talks had faced a serious and fundamental problem, they (talks) would have reached an impasse and stalled,” he added.

Iran and the P5+1–Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany– held three sessions of plenary talks in Baghdad on May 23 and 24 after an earlier round of negotiations in the Turkish city of Istanbul in mid-April.

The two sides agreed to hold another round of talks in Moscow on June 18-19.

Boroujerdi expressed hope that the upcoming round of talks would lead to a “logical agreement” that satisfies both parties.

On Friday, Mohammad Karamirad, member of the 8th Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said the continuation of talks between Iran and the P5+1 is “positive” and will lead to Tehran’s success.

Karamirad said while there was a time when the West did not want Iran to even have ten centrifuges, it has now hinted at accepting enrichment up to 2.5 and five percent or even, according to some sources, up to 20 percent and this marks the “biggest victory for Iran.”
