FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda “Despite this vehement attack, none of the data of the Oil Ministry has been accessed [by the attackers] thanks to the appropriate security structure of the ministry’s cyberspace and its internet,” the Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for Engineering Affairs and Passive Defense, Hamdollah Mohammadnejad, told Mehr News Agency on Wednesday.
“All operational and executive activities of the oil industry are following their natural courses at the moment…The attack has been carried out by means of a piece of ‘malware’ and through a number of the main servers of National Iranian Oil Company…The software attack has been fully contained and controlled with the help of the oil industry’s information technology experts three days after the attack,” he said.
Mohammadnejad stressed that, with security measures in place, the malware has been stopped from spreading to the ministry’s other computers.
He further “strongly” denied allegations that the attackers had successfully accessed some information on the oil industry’s foreign clients.
The damage resulting from the attack was “minimal,” he said and noted that it “is under investigation” whether the transgression had been internal or could be traced back to outside the country. “The results will be announced soon.”
On Monday, Oil Ministry Spokesman Alireza Nikzad emphasized that the ministry had a high-level network security and that a significant number of its computers had resumed operation. The ministry’s office automation system has been relaunched, he also said.
“The cyber attack has not damaged the main data of the Oil Ministry since the public servers are separate from the main ones,” he said.
Nikzad stated that all the primary and secondary data were backed up, adding that “the Oil Ministry has strong technical and engineering capabilities to counter cyber attacks.”
