Iran: Meeting about possible US-led Attack on Syria

Iranian Parliament convenes to discuss a potential military attack on Syria.

The Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy Commission convenes to debate about a possible US-led military intervention into Syria tomorrow. The Iranian Parliament plans to debate the possibility as well as the possible reactions of a US attack on Syria.

Therefore, a session of the Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy Commission will take place on Sunday, according to the announcement by a senior legislator from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Vice-Chairman of the Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Mansour Haqiqatpour, said in the announcement today that the Iranian commission will review the recent developments in terms of Syria and Lebanon in its session on Sunday.

Of course, the Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy Commission will also debate about the possibility of an US-led airstrike against Damascus and the consequences for the region of the Middle East. Beside the certain debates about the possible response by Iran in the case that Washington really starts a war on Syria.

The Vice-Chairman of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission further stated that also the representatives of the Foreign Ministry as well as officials of the Iranian Armed Forces will participate in the upcoming session of the commission on Sunday afternoon.

While the Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the US accusations, especially the claims by the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, an “utter nonsense“, it is logical that the countries of the region as well as in Europe and other regions have to prepare for the possibility of such a war of aggression by US-led military forces on Syria – then again based on empty phrases, faked evidence and false-flag actions in order to justify the violent implementation of the agenda of the backers and war profiteers behind such wars of aggressions that also violate international law and any kind of humanity.

In the meantime, also Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mohammad Khazaei, made some new remarks in terms of the alleged use of chemical weapons near the Syrian capital Damascus in last week. The Representative to the United Nations from the Islamic Republic of Iran said in his statements that he condemns the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

Afterwards, the Iranian envoy to the UN (United Nations), Mohammad Khazaei, underlined the Iranian request that the Western governments have to wait for the final results of the investigations by the chemical weapons inspectors of the UN in Syria before they make a decision about a military action against Syria.

The Iranian envoy to the United Nations (UN) further said that the administration in Tehran is opposed to the use of chemical weapons and explained the following in an e-mailed statement to the known newspaper, the New York Times (NYT):

“Iran, as a main victim of using chemical weapons during 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war on the country, is against any kind of usage of this inhuman warfare.” (Source – Mr Khazaei)

And finally, another political analyst and commentator, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, said in a recent interview that the foreign-backed terrorists fighting in Syria against the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad are responsible for the use of chemical arms (poison gas) in the Arab country.

Seyed Mohammad Marandi also warned that the “blind support of Washington for the militants” and the increased rhetoric of war by the United States against the Syrian government will “entice” the foreign-backed terrorists in Syria to even increase their use of chemical weapons against the units of the Syrian army and against Syrian civilians.
