FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Security in the strategic strait is principally ensured by the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Vahidi told ICANA on Wednesday.
He then pointed to a Majlis double-urgency bill aimed at closing the Strait of Hormuz – the only sea passage for crude shipments from the Persian Gulf – in response to the US-engineered European Union (EU) embargoes on the Iranian oil industry, stressing that Tehran will not allow foreign forces to endanger regional security.
Member of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Ebrahim Aqa-Mohammadi said on July 2 that the committee “has drawn up a plan which puts emphasis on blocking the passage of tankers carrying oil through the Strait of Hormuz to countries that imposed sanctions on Iran.”
He added that the plan has been codified in response to oil sanctions imposed on Iran by the 27-member union.
The lawmaker said asserting its sovereign right in coastal and domestic waters is the minimum measure that can be taken by Iran in response to the unfair Western oil sanctions against Tehran.
Brigadier General Vahidi also pointed to the Great Prophet 7 missile drill in central Iran and said the maneuver evinced Iran’s military might, and signified the full preparedness of the Iranian Armed Forces to defend national and regional security and deter any potential threat.
The Great Prophet 7, a three-day Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) missile drill, started in the central Iranian province of Semnan on July 2 and wrapped up on July 4.
The indigenous missiles, including Shahab (Meteor) 1, 2, 3, Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf), Tondar (Lightning), Fateh (Victor) and Zelzal (Quake) as well as Qiam (Uprising) were fired at the mock targets during the drill.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.
Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
