Iran Majlis voices support for Syria

In a statement issued by 245 Majlis lawmakers on Sunday, the Iranian legislators voiced support for the reforms process and any democratic solution that promotes public participation in Syria and called on the Syrian nation and government to “cut the hands of the meddlers.”

The lawmakers expressed their satisfaction that the foreign interventions and plots hatched by the US, Israel and Western powers against Syria as well as the “all-out support” by the regional “reactionary regimes” for the extremist terrorist groups in the country have ended in failure.

The statement praised Damascus for being in the frontline for supporting the Resistance movement and urged the Syrian government to maintain vigilance against future plots by the Israeli regime.

The lawmaker argued that such interferences are aimed at propping up Israel which has been in dire straits since the emergence of the Islamic Awakening movement across the Arab world.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011, with demonstrations being held both against and in support of President Bashar al-Assad’s government.

The Syrian government says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

Damascus also says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and the security forces have been given clear instructions not to harm civilians.
