In a meeting in Nouakchott on Wednesday, Iran’s Vice President Mohammad Reza Mir-Tajeddini extended Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation to his Mauritanian counterpart to attend the NAM summit due this summer in the Iranian capital.
The 16th NAM summit will be held from August 26 to 31.
Iran will receive the rotating presidency of the movement from Egypt for three years during the upcoming summit.
NAM comprises some 120 member states and 17 observer countries and represents nearly two-third of the UN members.
Mir-Tajeddini said the two countries have considerably improved bilateral cooperation in economic, industrial, agricultural and technical fields during recent years.
The two officials exchanged views on key regional and international developments, particularly issues pertaining to the Middle East and North Africa.
