Iran gears up for parliamentary vote

The electoral campaign for the polls, which will be held tomorrow, March 2, officially drew to a close on Thursday.

Many observers around the world are anxiously waiting to see the voter turnout and the new makeup of the parliament.

On Wednesday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei predicted a high turnout in Iran’s upcoming parliamentary elections, saying during an address to a huge crowd of visiting people in the capital Tehran that the Iranian nation will deal another heavy blow to the hegemonic powers.

Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar has also said that voter turnout would be high in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to Iran’s interior ministry, the election process will be managed by some 850,000 observers in 47000 polling stations and 1000 constituencies across the country.

The interior ministry’s election headquarters will use an electronic system to oversee the entire electoral process. The system is expected to expedite election procedures and enable the ministry to monitor the whole event more accurately.
