Iran eyes more oil bunkering

TEHRAN, April 30 (Shana) — National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), as one of the four subsidiaries of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, is tasked with supplying oil products across the country.

In the last calendar year which ended on March 19, NIORDC carried out important tasks as part of the mission assigned to it. Production and distribution of gasoline, implementation of Siraf refining projects and completion of Persian Gulf Star Refinery were among them, reported Iran Petroleum Monthly.

At present, executive and technical operations for 30 big projects are under way by this company. That involves implementation of more than 100 smaller projects. The required credit and costs for the implementation of these projects surpass IRR 430,000 billion.

Furthermore, construction of three new refineries and development of an operating refinery, worth 15 billion Euros, are on the agenda during the 6th Five-Year Economic Development Plan.

Refining companies have also seven projects under way for maintaining the capacity of refineries. These projects also involve a large number of technical and operational projects on smaller scale.

Based on the operational needs, these projects have been defined under six categories of refining, transmission, distribution, telecommunications, research and development.

Most of these projects have been implemented by relying on domestic capacities and contribution by the private sector. As far as procurement of necessary commodities is concerned, mainly domestically manufactured commodities have been used as required by the Iranian petroleum ministry.

One can say that nearly 90% of small and big projects were implemented during a one-year period ending March 2016. Of 70 refining projects, 29 were implemented from February 2015 to February 2016, including 24 during the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Seventeen other projects were launched in March.

Of 10 distribution and storage projects, one project came on-stream in the year ending March 2015 and four during the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution last February. Five others came on-stream in March.

For its part, Iranian Oil Pipelines and Telecommunication Company (IOPTC) put into operation six projects last February.
