TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-e Ravanchi said representatives from Iran and the European Union are scheduled to kick-start a new round of political talks next week.
“The first round of the talks will begin early next week,” he said Sunday while addressing a forum of academics and university deans in Tehran.
Noting that EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini will head the European side, he said the negotiations will also circle around the economic, environmental and scientific topics.
“The initiative offers great opportunities to develop scientific cooperation,” Takht-e Ravanchi said, arguing that the two sides have opened a new chapter in their bilateral relations.
This comes after Iran and the world powers (including the EU) reached an agreement on July 14 to end disputes over the former’s nuclear program. The implementation phase of the deal which annulled all anti-Iran sanctions began early January.
