FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Such remarks are of a political nature and a bid to eclipse the peaceful and transparent nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Friday.
He added that such efforts aim to overlook the “constant and close” cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at a time when a team of the agency’s inspectors have recently visited the country.
On January 29, a six-member IAEA delegation of senior officials and experts, headed by chief inspector Herman Nackaerts, arrived in Tehran for a three-day visit. At the end of the negotiations, the two sides agreed to hold more meetings in the future.
The agency has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities, but has never found any evidence of diversion in the country’s civilian nuclear program.
Mehmanparast rejected as baseless allegations of Sarkozy which were aimed at justifying recent measures against the Iranian nation, including the imposition of “illegal and unfair” sanctions and opposition to Tehran’s scientific and technological progress.
The Iranian spokesperson emphasized that the French president made no remarks about the atomic power plants and nuclear warheads of the Israeli regime which are threatening regional and international peace and security.
Iran rebuffs such “dual and selective” attitude, he pointed out.
The US, Israel, and their allies accuse Iran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program and have used this pretext to push for the imposition of sanctions on Tehran and to call for launching a military attack against the Islamic Republic.
Iran, however, refutes such allegations and maintains that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and an IAEA member, it has every right to acquire and develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
