“Based on the planned timeframe, 90 percent of the invitations to the NAM Summit in Tehran have been delivered by some [Iranian] ministers and Foreign Ministry officials.” Ali Saeedlou said in an interview with IRNA published Saturday.
Iran is scheduled to host the Non-Aligned leaders at Tehran late in August.
Saeedlou described the special motto of Tehran’s NAM summit as ‘Peace and Justice with Joint Global Management’ and said, “This means that we should prepare the grounds in a way that all countries and nations can have a share in the global management.”
Noting that the executive operations related to the international summit are currently underway, he said the content work of the Tehran meeting and the documents that are planned for discussions by NAM leaders during the event have already been prepared.
The Iranian vice president further described the NAM conference as “a very significant event with a long history” whose members consist of countries that did not depend on any military blocks or other alliances when they joined the movement.
He expressed hope that the Tehran summit would facilitate a good and effective experience for the participating members and follow up on slogans and principles of independent countries.
The 16th NAM summit will be held on August 26-31 in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Iran will receive the rotating presidency of the movement from Egypt for three years during the Tehran summit.
An international organization with some 120 member states and 17 observer countries, NAM represents nearly two-thirds of the UN members.
