TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on the western countries to accelerate fulfillment of their undertakings under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the nuclear deal.
“We require the western countries to honor their commitments in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,” Zarif said on Saturday in Tehran, addressing a meeting of the newly-elected lawmakers.
The Iranian foreign minister, meantime, pointed to the spread of terrorism in the region, and said, “Terrorism has engulfed the entire region and every day we hear deplorable news and if regional rulers pay due attention to such news, they will find out that they are the target of the threats more than others.”
Iran and the six world powers held several rounds of talks in Geneva, Lausanne and Vienna before striking a final agreement in Vienna on July 14 to end a 13-year-old nuclear standoff.
After the agreement, the UN Security Council unanimously endorsed a draft resolution turning into international law the JCPOA reached between Iran and the 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) group of countries.
