IRNA – The head of Iranian Environmental Protection Organization in a letter to the Executive Director of the UN Environment Program expressed Iran’s spiritual support for project to plant 1,000,000 trees in Palestine, and wanted the UN Environment Program to support the project.
Vice President and head of Environmental Protection Organization Masoumeh Ebtekar wrote to the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program Erik Solheim that it has been about 70 years that social and natural life of Palestinians have been affected by war and unrest imposed by the Zionist regime and the environment has been hurt and damaged.
She added that Human health and the environment has a big influence on public welfare, and the support from international organizations have a noticeable role in decreasing the dangers caused by wars to health and environment.
She also wrote that Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) has announced their goal of planting 1,000,000 trees in Palestine.
The Zionist regime has removed 3,000,000 trees, 2,000,000 of which have been replaced, but continuation of the path needs international support.
Backing the APN’s plan, she also called for the proper support on part of the United Nations Environment Program, as the highest international body in charge of the environmental issues.
