‘Iran aid indicates support for Syria’

On Thursday, Iran sent two consignments of humanitarian aid, including food, tents and medical supplies to Syria.

“Iran’s humanitarian aid to Damascus started following measures taken by our country’s Foreign Ministry and in continuation of Tehran’s political support for the Syrian people,” Amir-Abdullahian said.

He added that the Syrian Red Crescent Society will distribute the humanitarian aid supplies among Syria’s resilient people who are facing sanctions.

Criticizing double standard policies against Syria, the Iranian official praised the country’s historical resistance against Israel and stressed Iran’s all-out support for Damascus.

Iran’s Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani says Tehran will also send three more shipments of humanitarian supplies to the Arab country in the future.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March and many people, including security forces, have lost their lives in the violence.

The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of killing the protesters. But Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
