Queensland’s special education students would be gifted iPads under a Liberal National Party government, Campbell Newman says.
Under the $3.5 million plan, state special schools would receive 20 tablets each, while state and non-government schools with special education units would get 10 tablets each.
“The idea is that this technology has some significant educational benefits for kids with special needs…they really can bring this alive to young children with disability,” Mr Newman told reporters in Brisbane on Sunday.
The technology would be rolled out within 18 months of the LNP winning government, Mr Newman vowed adding that further big-ticket policy announcements on education would be made in coming weeks.
“Education Queensland has not gone well under Labor,” he said.
“They’ve had 20 years to sort it out, and that’s something of great concern to all of us, so you will hear more about education from the LNP.”
