Taking their cue from the nonwhite invaders pouring into Europe over the Mediterranean Sea, a group of nonwhites have managed to row to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, landing on a packed holiday-goer beach in broad daylight—after threatening to kill themselves if they were not allowed to land.
At least one of the invaders did stab himself in order to “force” his evacuation to a local hospital as part of a plan to avoid deportation.
According to local TV station WSVN, nine males and one female were on the boat which was first spotted by the US Coast Guard while still at sea.
The officials said the invaders were armed with machetes and knives and threatened to stab themselves if any law enforcement officials came near as they landed.
Nine males and one female then jumped onto the shore, in full view of hundreds of beachgoers.
“What I understand, every time law enforcement tried to approach and get near them, they were threatening [to hurt] themselves,” Florida Fish and Wildlife Officer Tyson Matthew told the TV station. “There were knives on board and several weapons.”
Another witness Tammy Perez, said that the invaders “had some machetes, apparently, and they were threatening to kill themselves or something.”
As law enforcement officials swooped, one of the invaders did stab himself in the abdomen, “forcing his evacuation” to the Broward Health Medical Center as a trauma alert.
The others walked from the beach to ambulances and were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital to be examined.
Cellphone video captured the invaders jumping out of their 10-foot wooden rowboat and setting foot on American soil. Some of them were seen kissing the sand.
Moments later, police officers were seen detaining the men.
Officials told the TV station that the invaders “will be able to stay once they are released from the hospital and processed by US Customs.”
While the nationality of the invaders is unknown, media reports have suggested they are Cubans. This is unlikely, given the fact that they were prepared to harm themselves in order to stay in the US.
If invaders can prove that they are Cuban nationals, they generally qualify for automatic right to remain in terms of current US law dealing with “refugees” from Cuba.
The Cuban Refugee Adjustment Act make it easier for Cuban citizens to escape Cuba and get permanent residence in the United States.
Any Cuban citizen who has been inspected, admitted, or paroled into the United States can apply for a Green Card after living in the United States for one year.
The spouse and young children of Cuban citizens can use this law to get a Green Card, even if they are not Cuban citizens themselves. Someone who was born in Cuba but becomes a citizen elsewhere can get a Green Card under this law.
Furthermore, a Cuban who has had a family-based petition approved can be paroled into the United States while he or she is waiting for a Green Card. The United States government also runs a lottery that allows Cuban citizens to migrate to the US.
