TCP : Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar announced in a press conference Saturday that the ministry is applying a reform policy “that aims at excluding security personnel, who are not aware of the requirements of their duty.”
The statement came during Abdel Ghaffar’s meeting with his aides and security leaders nationwide to review the ministry’s plan to secure the activities of the two-day Africa business conference currently held in Sharm al Sheikh.
The statement also came two days after a policeman shot dead a civilian after an argument in Cairo’s district of Al Darb Al Ahmar Thursday.
During the press conference, Abdel Ghaffar vowed to bring to justice any policeman, “who abuses his power and violates the rights of the citizens.”
We are firm in dealing with policemen who discredit the ministry’s image and in enforcing the rule of law without breaching any of the civilians’ right, said the minister.
A statement from the Cairo security directorate on Friday said that the policeman had shot dead the driver and was forced to flee a mob of local people who attempted to catch and kill him.
