nsnbc : Indonesian police has released the names of seven Indonesians allegedly involved in terrorism in Marawi city in Mindanao, the Philippines. Indonesia received the names of the seven suspects from police in the Philippines.
Commissioner Martinus Sitompul, the head of the Public Information Section of Indonesia’s Police Department Office in the capital Jakarta, said on Wednesday, that police in the Philippines had listed seven Indonesians who are under suspicion of involvement in the terrorist offensive in Marawi city.
Sitompul stated that the Philippine authorities, through the Philippine National Police (PNP), have listed the names of seven Indonesians under suspicion for their involvement in the Islamic State-linked terrorism network at Marawi. The names of these seven suspects were later submitted to the International Relations Division of Indonesia’s police.
The seven names on the list are Al Ikhwan Yushel, Yayat Hidayat Tarli, Anggara Suprayogi, Yoki Pratama Windyarto, Moch Jaelani Firdaus, and Muhamad Gufron. Yayat and Anggara came together to the Philippines on April 15.
The last suspect, Muhammad Ilham Syahputra, was thought to have died in the attack on Marawi. “Syahputra was allegedly killed in the attack in Marawi. But until now, the body has not been found,” Sitompul revealed.
According to him, the seven Indonesians entered the Philippines legally. The whereabouts and status of the other suspects in the Marawi incident remain unclear. Sitompul said “We still need to confirm their existence there.”
Last week the Philippines’ Solicitor General Jose Calida said Friday that there are foreign fighters among the ranks of the Islamic State’s franchise in the Philippines.
Addressing reporters last Friday, Solicitor General Jose Calida said “What is happening in Mindanao is no longer a rebellion of Filipino citizens. … It has transmogrified into an invasion of foreign fighters.” Calida added that Malaysians, Singaporians, Indonesians and other foreign fighters were in Marawi.
The Solicitor General said international jihadists had answered the call from Isnilon Hapilon, the former leader of the kidnap for ranson Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) which had pledged allegiance to Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS). Isnilon Hapilon and the Maute terrorist group are trying to establish an ISIS-province in Mindanao, Calida added.
