Indian journalist urges release on bail

Kazemi handed his bail application to New Delhi prosecutor Vinod Yadav, arguing that the investigation into his case has not been completed within 90 days, which enables him under the criminal law to be bailed.

In his bail plea, Kazemi challenged the High Court’s order that granted the police an additional 90 days for investigation.

Kazemi reiterated that the extension of police investigation without judicial process runs counter to the existing law.

Following kazmi’s bail plea, the court listed the case for further hearing on July 17.

The Indian police asked for an extra 90 days for completion of investigation, while they have not filled in investigation forms yet.

On March 6, police in India arrested Kazemi on charges of having contacts with a suspect they believe may have stuck a magnetic bomb on the car of an Israeli diplomat’s wife.

The police have claimed that the motorcycle found at Kazmi’s house was used by the suspect to carry out the attack.
