In France, four killed in school shooting

A man on a motorbike opened fire on a group of people standing at a school drop-off point, killing four bystanders, including three children. The perpetrator of the attack has reportedly fled the scene.

Latest reports indicate that a school teacher and his two children were among the terror victims.

These reports also quote police sources as saying that the assailant was armed with two weapons, one of which was previously used in fatal shooting of three French soldiers.

Days earlier, in an identical incident in the same region, three paratroopers were gunned down by an unknown individual on a motorbike.

A 30-year-old paratrooper was shot dead in a residential area of Toulouse days ago, while two soldiers were killed and a third wounded in the town of Montauban, some 29 miles (46km) away, on Thursday.

Around 60 police officers and anti-terrorist experts have begun an investigation into the terror incident.

Following the attack, French Interior Minister Claude Gueant ordered heightened security measures around all Jewish schools in France.

France is home to the largest Jewish community in Europe. Around 700,000 Jews reside in the country.
