(Scroll down for video) The horse meat scandal that engulfed Europe last month seems to be widening after another popular retailer’s meat was found to contain horse meat, according to press reports in the United States.

Swedish furniture giant Ikea said it is pulling meat balls from its stores in 21 European countries, amid concerns that they could contain horse meat.

The move on Monday comes after authorities in the Czech Republic said it had detected horse DNA while testing packages of frozen meat balls labeled as beef and pork.

Ikea spokesperson Ylva Magnusson told the press that the stores in the 21 countries that have been using the same supplier of Swedish meat balls will remove their inventory from their shelves.

The spokesperson also said that the recall affects most European countries, but not Russia and Norway, which use local suppliers. She added that Ikea stores outside Europe are not affected.
