ICAC asked to investigate former MP Obeid

The NSW corruption watchdog has been asked to investigate former Labor MP Eddie Obeid in relation to Sydney harbour property leases.

Ports Minister Duncan Gay said he referred the matter to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) on Friday.

“Last Friday I referred allegations of potential corrupt conduct involving members of the former State Labor Government, regarding the leasing of Circular Quay wharves since 2000, to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC),” Mr Gay said in a statement.

“I have forwarded this for the ICAC’s assessment and action as deemed appropriate, and will await the outcome of this process.”

Fairfax reported on Saturday that the former NSW minister and ALP kingmaker did not declare to parliament his family’s interest in the three cafes at Circular Quay.
