"I heard people screaming help, help," neighbor Nikia Sulejmani said.

A MAN is missing and his wife has been rushed to hospital after a house fire in Runcorn tonight.

Just after 9.30pm neighbours said they heard screaming and a large explosion, the Courier-Mail reported.

“I heard people screaming help, help,” neighbor Nikia Sulejmani said.

Another neighbour Sara Adeel, said the woman screamed for her husband.

“She was screaming ‘He’s inside’,” she said.

Iris Ham said she grabbed her hose to fight the fire but was unable to make a difference.

“It was very frightening,” she said.

It is believed the woman jumped from the room upstairs to escape the blaze and her husband was downstairs.

Neighbours were quick to help the woman and sat with her while they waited for the emergency services.

Regional operational supervisor Matt McGregor said the fire was well ablaze by the time the fire service responded.

“The patient jumped from the window and was on the grass when crews arrived,” he said.

He said the woman sustained burns to 15-20 per cent of her body and had been taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

He was unable to confirm the condition of the man but said it was unlikely that he would have survived if he had been inside.

The cause of the fire is unknown but the supervisor said it may have been an electrical fault.

The couple also have a daughter, believed to be in her late teens, who is currently in Japan on holiday.

The couple, believed to be in their 40s, also own a dog, the whereabouts of which is unknown.
