GAZA, (PIC)– Despite the weak popular support for their cause, two political prisoners, Abdullah Al-Aker and Mahmoud Oweiwi, insist on continuing their open hunger strike until the Palestinian authority (PA) ends their unlawful detention.
Unlike the prisoners in Israeli jails whose hunger strike moved the Palestinian street and gained international solidarity, the striking prisoners in PA jails still find no such popular or international concern for their cause.
However, this logic does not seem acceptable to the families of political prisoners who are detained because of their affiliation with Hamas or their resistance activities.
Palestinian lawmaker Fathi Al-Qarawi stated on his facebook page that the suffering of the political prisoner in PA jails is no different from that in Israel jails, affirming that all of them are suppressed because of resisting the occupation.
“The people who talk to the media and conferences, and outside the sit-in tents about the suffering of administrative prisoners and hunger strikers in Israeli jails must leave their silence towards some people being exposed to as much injustice as that in Israeli jails, MP Qarawi underlined.
