With bee populations at risk, it is good to know that capturing a swarm might not be as hard as you think! Steve Gentry of Steve’s Bees explains how it is done (and he doesn’t even use smoke!).
Steve has been beekeeping for over 30 years out here in California’s Bay Area and it doesn’t look like he will be slowing down anytime soon. He even started a charity that not only teaches kids about bees and ecology but helps raise money for their schools! The kids get to sell honey instead of candy bars. Pretty cool, huh?
I spoke with Steve while visiting farms and food producers around California all while in a Chevy Volt. He has a truly inspiring story!
