Mattel’s signature toy from Back to the Future 2 should be in your hands for the 2012 holiday season
Have you been impatiently awaiting the arrival of the Mattel Hoverboard from Back to the Future 2? If so, we have some terrific news for you: The device is currently available for pre-order.
The officially licensed 28″ by 8″ hoverboard won’t actually float in air, which will no doubt be the biggest sticking point among those impatiently awaiting the device’s arrival. It does, however, come with pads that let it glide across your floors as frictionlessly as possible. The board also makes “whooshing” sounds, sampled directly from the hoverboard in the movie.
As you’d expect from a toy of the future, a hoverboard doesn’t come cheap — your pre-order will set you back $120 plus shipping (2015-edition Nike Air Mag sneakers not included). Anyone who orders before March 20 will also receive a smaller, 6-inch scale model for their Mattel action figures. You can order yours today at MattyCollector.
