(Scroll down for video) A woman got lucky after a kind homeless man returned a ring she accidentally placed inside his cash collecting cup, according to video uploaded to the internet.
Billy Ray Harris, a beggar in Missouri, attracted national attention earlier this month after returning the diamond ring. The inspiring story quickly went viral and Sarah Darling, the grateful owner of the ring, created a fund to raise funds for Harris, along with her husband to show their appreciation. We collected more than $130,000 and we will personally be giving the funds to Harris.
“I’m not sure how you ended up in your situation, but after what I’ve seen you do, I’m definitely sure that you are an honest person” Volanda Shields, a donor who gave $1,000 to Harris, wrote. “I saw the news the other day and it brought tears to my eyes because I thought what many others would have done,” she also wrote.
Darling and her husband, Bill Krejci, are in close contact with Harris and continue to share how they are inspired by him and how others have responded to the story.
“Words cannot express what it feels like to be part of something like this,” Krejci wrote.
But Harris, who was raised by his grandfather said that the decision to return the ring was obvious and he actually does not think that his actions deserve much attention.
