nsnbc : Ella Pamfilova, chief Central Elections Commission official of the Russian Federation, blasted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov over remarks she perceived as unfair promotion of President Vladimir Putin ahead of the presidential elections.
Pamfilova issued a rare slap over Peskov’s and the Kremlim Putinistas’ writs when she blasted Peskov for unfair promotion of Putin and called Putin “an absolute leader” with no competition and a “political Mount Olympus”.
The, for Russian circumstances, surprisingly open critique that implicitly addressed the Russian Federation’s deeply-entrenched oligarchy, its links to Putin, and the presidency’s apparent abuse of power and institutions, was made during the top-election official’s daily conference call with reporters earlier this week.
Commenting on Peskov, Ella Pamfilova said she had seen “obvious signs of campaigning” in Peskov’s remarks. “I am now reprimanding the president’s press secretary on behalf of the Central Elections Commission to prevent such statements in the future,” the RIA Novosti news agency cited her as saying.
Peskov apologized an hour after Pamfilova’s admonition. “From now on I will, of course, be more careful during this [campaign] period so as not to give cause for such criticism,” cited RIA Novosti him as saying.
