Harbour bridge toll to be upgraded

The NSW government has flagged an upgrade of the toll equipment on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay made the announcement at the 80th birthday celebration of the bridge at Bradfield Park on Sunday.

“The ageing technology on the Old Lady is in need of updating and needs to be replaced,” Mr Gay said.

“As part of the proposal, the existing tolling booths would be removed to provide a smoother, seamless journey for motorists travelling on the bridge.

“The removal of the toll booths will allow greater flexibility in future realignment of bridge lanes to help improve traffic flow and traffic management.”

Roads and Maritime Services is calling for interested tolling equipment providers to be part of the project.
