Several white Afrikaner couples came forward to claim that the child was their
long-lost son.
After a four-month inquiry, including DNA testing, a court found that Mr
Sindane was likely the son of a black domestic worker and a white man who
had employed her in 1984, and that his real name was Abbey Mziyaya.
His mother had left the boy with the Sindane family, who raised him as a
foster child. They denied abuse, saying they had treated the boy like their
own child.
