Guardian Council censures profane film

On Saturday, the Guardian Council issued a statement saying the production of the anti-Islam film, which insults Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), could not be an independent move.

“Just as we saw during the burning of the Holy Qur’an, the US government not only did not take action against the extremist ministers who insulted the Holy Qur’an but indirectly supported them,” the statement read.

“The Guardian Council condemns this offensive action and calls on responsible organizations and advocates of human rights in the international arena, the UN, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take firm and swift measures against these anti-humanitarian moves.”

The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that the blasphemous movie was produced by an anti-Islamic Israeli-American named Sam Bacile.

The report added that, Bacile, who is a real estate developer, has admitted that he produced the film, which he said was made with the help of Jewish donations totaling $5 million.

There have been demonstrations condemning the blasphemous film in several countries across the world.
