A friend of the couple said Mr Maciel’s widow was in tears and could not
believe her husband was gone.
Fabiana Sena, 31, told a newspaper: “She just cries and says ‘I want my
husband back’. Nobody can believe what happened, and even less the way it
happened.”
Mr Maciel is said to have been planning the perfect wedding for months and had
recently finished building a house for him and his new wife.
His body is due to be flown back to his hometown of Manaus, in the north of
Brazil. His funeral will be on Wednesday, just three days after his wedding.
