(Thomas Dishaw) With the impact of Sandy taking its toll on the east coast ,food retailers are pulling the plug on deliveries leaving customers without options to fill their basic needs. ”Maryland grocery retailers Giant, Shoppers and Safeway have ceased deliveries today (Monday) and have canceled deliveries on Tuesday and Wednesday.” According to a trusted industry insider, ” The impact of Sandy has brought the supply chain down to its knees. Grocery retailers will not be full strength again until the weekend. Warehouses need to re stock and drivers are needed to deliver. ” Said a Local 27 employee.
