nsnbc : Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Greek business leaders responded to the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi and recent major Egyptian gas discoveries by showing that Greek is seeing a hot potential in Greek – Egyptian relations.
Speaking at a meeting of Greek business people Greek PM Alexis Tsipras noted that “there are enormous opportunities for cooperation between the two countries; opportunities that did not previously exist”.
Tsipras referred to the announcement of major Egyptian natural gas reserves in the southern Mediterranean by Italian energy giant ENI in August 2015.
One potential Greece eyes is the involvement of Greek companies in energy, construction and shipping contracts related to Egypt’s gas Bonanza. On Tuesday Tsipras and Al-Sisi penned a cooperation agreement in that regard.
On Wednesday Al-Sisi and Tsipras are joined by Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades for a third round of three-nation-talks. Also this meeting is expected to be dominated by discussions on business corporation, as well as increased security cooperation between the three Mediterranean States.
