The UNESCO report says there have been 108 development proposals along the reef in the past five years, mainly related to the booming export of coal and liquefied natural gas.
The report highlighted concerns about new port facilities being built around the central Queensland town of Gladstone, where locals and environmentalists say there has been a serious loss of marine life and a decline in water quality.
