Samar Samir (TCP) : The Sudanese-Egyptian Agricultural Integration Company (SEAIC) will be restructured on the Egyptian side, including the Minister of Agriculture, the Agricultural Research Center Chairperson and financial experts and representatives of the National Bank of investments, announced Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hossam Moghazy Wednesday.

The restructuring follows a recent government reshuffle after the former resigned Minister Salah al-din Helal was detained over accusations of bribery.
The new restructuring will include experts of agriculture, engineering, livestock, finance, and legal administration, Moghazy added, noting that those experts will permanently reside in Sudan’s Blue Nile city where many projects are under construction.
Egypt and Sudan have agreed to reclaim around 100,000 acres in Sudan within one year to meet the production needs of Egyptian and Sudanese people in Blue Nile. In July, both sides signed an agreement to extend the company’s contract for 30 more years to yield the benefits of the 100,000 acres.
“Integration projects with Sudan focus on the principle of interest to both parties […] in the fields of agriculture and food security by reviving, strengthening and expanding the integration companies, and the cultivation of 100,000 acres in the first phase, to eliminate the food gap in Egypt and achieve the common interest of the two countries,” Moghazy said.
Blue Nile State’s Ad-Damazin-based SEAIC was established in 1976 when late President Anwar Sadat and his Sudanese counterpart Gaafar Nimeiry signed an integration agreement.
