Gold Coast couple search for stolen pup

A Gold Coast couple have been left devastated after they returned home from work one night to find their new puppy had been stolen and their house ransacked.

Carly O’Loughlan, 24, left her Burleigh Heads home at 6pm on Saturday to go to work.

When she finished at 3.30am, she picked up her fiancé Matt Blackborrow, 27, from drinks with friends and they headed home to see their French mastiff puppy Hugo, which they had left home alone for the first time.

“We unlocked the front door and all the back doors were open, all the drawers were open and more importantly, the door to the crate was open,” Ms O’Loughlan told ninemsn.

Her engagement ring, a diamond ring, two iPhones and a MacBook computer with an entire semester’s worth of university work on it was also stolen but it all paled in comparison to the loss of Hugo.

Even though the couple only had him for six days, Ms O’Loughlan said she had already grown attached to her puppy.

Hugo was going to keep her company when Mr Blackborrow had to spend weeks at the mines for work.

“I know it’s not a long time but … He sleeps in our bed in every night,” she said.

“He would not hurt you at all. He’s so lovely — if you hug him he’ll nuzzle his head into your neck.”

Hugo has distinctive white marks on his chest and on his back toes.

Ms O’Loughlan has set up a Facebook page to raise awareness about the theft. Visit Help Find Hugo for more information and photos.
