OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Newt Gingrich was not at an Oklahoma City airport when police there dragged a man face down across the floor after he tried to break through security saying he had to meet the Republican presidential hopeful.
Police say they are investigating the videotaped actions of the officers who arrested James Heidebrecht at Will Rogers World Airport on Feb. 20 on complaints of trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Heidebrecht was released the following day and no charges were filed.
Heidebrecht did not return a message left Monday at a phone number listed in his name.
Gingrich arrived at the airport earlier in the day for campaign appearances in Tulsa and Oklahoma City and left the following day. A Gingrich spokesman did not immediately return a call and email seeking comment.
