The photograph, which is 100 meters wide and weighs two tones, contains a 70-meter-high image of Queen Elizabeth II, her husband Prince Philip and their children.
The black-and-white photograph dates back to 1977 when the Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee, marking her 25th year on the throne.
Eight abseiling men spent 45 hours to put up the photograph, which is “the largest ever photograph of the Royal Family” and is to stay in place until the end of June.
On Saturday 3 June, the Queen’s Jubilee Thames Flotilla will pass by the giant photograph of Britain’s royal family. The Flotilla involves one thousands boats and travels in procession down the Thames from Putney to Tower Bridge. The Queen and other members of her family will be on the lead boat.
This comes as online price comparison site moneysupermarket.com has estimated that the British people would spend more than £800 million on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, almost twice as much as what was spent during last year’s lavish celebrations for the royal wedding.
