Two German Muslim converts today admitted entering the country with a stash of terror manuals containing instructions on how to produce homemade bombs.
Christian Emde, 28, and Robert Baum, 23, were stopped by officers from the South East Counter Terrorism Unit at Dover, Kent on July 15 last year.
The men – who arrived on a ferry – were already on a terrorist watch list.

Detectives found portable hard drives containing manuals entitled ‘Make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom’, ‘Destroying buildings’ and ‘39 ways to serve and participate in Jihad’.
A further document, entitled ‘The Ultimate Mowing Machine’ described how blades could be fixed to a truck to ‘mow down’ pedestrians, while copies of Al Qaeda magazine Inspire were also found.
Adjourning proceedings at the Old Bailey, Judge Peter Rook QC told the German duo: ‘These are serious offences and custodial sentences will follow.
‘In the meantime, you are remanded in custody.’
Emde’s barrister Timothy Green said the literature could be downloaded from the internet – and was not believed to be illegal in Germany.
Emde, from the town of Solingen, east of Dusseldorf in Germany, admitted four counts of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000, with a fifth count left to lie on file.
Baum, also from Solingen, admitted a single count of the same charge.

Too bad you can’t simply put them in front of a firing squad and save a bunch of time, trouble, and money. There should be zero tolerance for terrorists, even would-be terrorists.

Why do we not return them to Germany for them to be dealt with by their own authorities ? , we have more than enough foreign rubbish in our jails paid for by British tax payers.

It’s time that politicians looked at what penalties should be given to jihardists, terrorists, or those who espouse terrorism or who knowingly give shelter or financial support to terrorists. If such people are found to be guilty, mandatory life sentences without parole would be a good start point. I am sure that any psychologist would tell us that if such people were released from prison, no matter what lies they would tell us about being cured, they would still secrety hold their extremist views, and therefore would always be a threat. Only solution. Imprisonment for their natural life, and throw away the key.
