German firms ready to return to Iran

Speaking at a meeting with German Ambassador to Tehran Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg, Iran’s Deputy Labor Minister and Head of the Organization for Technical and Vocational Training Mohammadamin Sazgarnejad emphasized the need for expansion of international ties in the field of technology transfer adding “since old times, Iran and Germany have had good collaboration in areas of vocational training.”

Sazgarnejad expressed hope that the existing relations will improve in the post-JCPOA era particularly in the field of technology and training transfer.

The official further enumerated possible venues for cooperation including deployment of Iranian trainers to Germany for additional programs, presence of German trainers in Iran, defining professional career and skill standards as well as creation of specialized vocational training centers in Iran by German industries.”

Deputy labor minister further stressed the need for long-term presence of qualified personnel in teacher training centers; “equipping young people with new skills results in unemployment reduction and job stability which can be part of strategic plans followed by international organizations, the European Union (EU) as well as Germany.”

The official also referred to provision of vocational training to Afghan refugees in Iran expressing hope that the German ambassador will take up a strategic look providing the grounds for trilateral cooperation encouraging Afghans to return to and reconstruct their homeland.

German Ambassador to Tehran Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg, for his part, welcomed boosting of ties between the two countries saying “German firms have voiced willingness to return to Iran.”

“Valuable means are available for joint cooperation including Iran-Germany chamber of commerce,” highlighted the official commenting “activities will cover technology transfer in addition to selling products in Iran.”

He pointed to the existence of a dual educational system in Germany reiterating “in line with economic activities, German firms are required to establish technical and vocational training centers which suit local conditions in Iran.”

The German ambassador to Iran noted that fortunately, the proper grounds and capacities for the participation of German companies in Iran are being provided; “with regard to Afghan refugees, Germany could conduct joint projects with Iran’s Technical and Vocational Training Organization.”
